Tailored to Groups Ranging from 10 to 30 Guests, Participants will Enjoy a Decadent Lunch, Wine Tasting, Grape Stomping, and More on a Luxury Round-Trip Ride to the Rutherford Winery

May 19, 2025 (Napa, CA) The Napa Valley Wine Train, a memorable experience that evokes the spirit of luxury rail travel, is pleased to introduce an immersive group activity that harkens back to the Old World traditions of winemaking with the Grape Stomp Group Experience.  Exclusively offered in September and October, this unique adventure takes guests on a scenic ride through the world class Napa Valley Wine Country to acclaimed Grgich Hills Estate where an outdoor crush pad with rustic barrels will be set up and ready to put guests to work.  Guests will also enjoy a three-course lunch aboard the train, a wine tasting at Grgich Hills, and a two-hour ride through Napa Valley.

In its initial launch as a bookable experience for intimate parties and couples, the Grgich Hills Grape Stomp Experience received enthusiastic reviews, resulting in a demand for larger groups, including business retreats, family reunions, and more.

“Last year’s participants raved about the experience, calling it one of the most joyful and unforgettable ways to connect with Napa’s rich winemaking heritage,” said Nathan Davis, general manager, Napa Valley Wine Train. “From the laughter-filled moments of stomping grapes to the hands-on appreciation of this time-honored tradition, the event was a highlight of the season — an experience that left guests with incredible memories.”

The Grape Stomp Group Experience kicks off at the Napa Valley Wine Train station where guests will depart at 11:30 a.m. and enjoy a gourmet lunch while relishing the stunning vineyard views.  The luxury train will arrive at Grgich Hills Estate in Rutherford where they will disembark for a tasting of the winery’s world-class Reserve wines and the quintessential grape stomping experience under the shade of old oak trees overlooking the vineyard and Mayacamas Mountains.  This communal affair features six large wine barrels designed to support several enthusiastic stompers making it the perfect activity for team building.  After an hour, guests will return to the train to take part in dessert, coffee, and tea service on the ride back to the station where the journey will conclude at 2:30 p.m.

The exclusive Grape Stomp Group Experience will take place in September and October and is available for groups of up to 30 guests with ticket prices starting at $475, and for individuals starting at $495.  Must be 21 or older to attend.  For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit WineTrain.com.
