Famiglie Storiche Announces the Entry of Bertani into the Association

March 6, 2025 (Verona, Italy) — 2025 opens with a significant development for Famiglie Storiche, the association founded in 2009 by the union of ten historic wineries of Valpolicella which today counts thirteen members and confirms its commitment to enhancing the value of Amarone and its territory.
Famiglie Storiche announces the exit of Venturini from the association and welcomes Bertani, part of Angelini Wines & Estates, as a new member.

“On behalf of all the members,” stated Pierangelo Tommasi, President of Famiglie Storiche, “I would like to thank the Venturini family for their contribution to the association over the years, fully respecting their decision to continue their journey outside the group. We extend our best wishes to them to successfully continue the valuable work carried out so far.

At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Bertani among the members of Famiglie Storiche: a benchmark name for Valpolicella and Amarone, which will further enrich our shared commitment. Our association is made up of wineries that, through their history and daily work, safeguard and promote the identity of this extraordinary territory, sharing the goal of elevating Amarone in Italy and worldwide.”

With this new membership, Famiglie Storiche strengthens its path, keeping alive the dialogue and collaboration among some of the most representative wineries of Valpolicella, in the name of quality and the promotion of the region’s symbolic wine.

FAMIGLIE STORICHE
The Famiglie Storiche association was founded in June 2009 through the union of ten prominent wineries from Valpolicella, a renowned wine-producing area near Verona. Today, the association counts 13 members: Allegrini, Begali, Bertani, Brigaldara, Guerrieri Rizzardi, Masi, Musella, Speri, Tedeschi, Tenuta Sant’Antonio, Tommasi, Torre D’Orti and Zenato.

These 13 wineries are indeed historic, having produced wines appreciated worldwide for generations — Amarone above all. At the same time, the Historic Families also act as ambassadors of Valpolicella, one of Italy’s most internationally acclaimed wine-producing areas.

Since 2010, the association has owned the Antica Bottega del Vino, a venue in the heart of Verona dating back to the 16th century. To this day, the Antica Bottega remains one of the most famous and prestigious establishments in the Verona area. The story of the Historic Families stems from a shared cornerstone — the production of Amarone — and an identity-driven vision of the territory. This vision is based on history, craftsmanship, a deep connection to the land, and the desire to enhance the national and international recognition of wines produced in Valpolicella, with Amarone at the forefront.
