March 5, 2025 — On Monday, 3 March, Star Wine List and The Buyer co-hosted an awards ceremony at the Winemakers Club in Farringdon, London, to announce the UK’s top wine lists. In the fifth edition of Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer, the night’s highest honour went to Hexham restaurant Hjem (winners of the Best Short List and Grand Prix categories) with Gold Stars also handed out to London’s Wild Corner, HIDE and OMA; winners from elsewhere in the country included Moor Hall (Aughton, Lancashire), The Terrace Rooms and Wine (Ventnor, Isle of Wight) and Where The Light Gets In (Stockport, Greater Manchester).
The Star Wine List of the Year awards celebrate the greatest wine lists in the world – and the teams behind them. At Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer, Gold Stars were awarded in 13 categories, with winners in the international categories qualifying for the Star Wine List of the Year International Final, to be held in Vienna, in June 2025.
After receiving a record-breaking number of entries, this year’s event included local categories for Best Italian Wine List, Best Spanish Wine List and, in a first for the publisher, Best Rosé Wine List (sponsored by Miraval). The latter was a much-debated topic for the judges, who included Stephen Wong MW, Nina Jensen, Jan Konetzki and local expert, collector Queena Wong.
“The passion, skill, and deep knowledge poured into wine programs across the UK clearly sets a benchmark for others to follow,” says Jensen. “Throughout [the competition], we’ve seen striking curiosity, distinctive style, and carefully-curated selections with strong identities. The UK wine scene is as dynamic as ever, and the jury applauds the inspiration you all bring!”
