Collaborative Winemaking Adventure for Wine Enthusiasts
Napa, California (February 19, 2025) – The Wine Foundry in Napa has introduced Share-a-Barrel, a one-of-a-kind program that brings together wine enthusiasts in a winemaking collaboration built around the shared blending of a barrel of ultra-premium wine. This new experience is an outgrowth of The Wine Foundry’s unique custom barrel program, which gives consumers the opportunity to create their own signature wine in whole barrel quantities.

Share-a-Barrel opens the custom barrel program to a broader audience by giving participants access to a quarter of a barrel of wine rather than a full barrel. Sharing the experience with three other people or groups, participants can choose from Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir or Albariño from ultra-premium vineyards in Northern California. Each participant receives a quarter barrel of wine, finished and bottled (six cases/72 bottles).
“For many people, crafting a barrel of wine can be overwhelming,” noted Valerie Von Burg, co-owner of The Wine Foundry. “Share-a-Barrel provides a smaller, more manageable opportunity to explore winemaking while still enjoying premium quality and an incredible experience.”
Guided by The Wine Foundry’s winemaking team at the Napa Valley winery, Share-a-Barrel participants learn how blending shapes the aroma, structure and flavor of their wine. The Wine Foundry has vineyard partners in premier appellations from which to source grapes. For the inaugural program, customers can choose from a 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon from the A2 Vineyard in Rutherford, a 2024 Chardonnay from the Rodgers Creek Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap (Sonoma County), a 2024 Pinot Noir from the Bacigalupi Vineyard in the Russian River Valley and a 2024 Albariño from the Terra Alta Vineyard in Clements Hills (Lodi). Participants who can’t come to the winery can have barrel samples shipped to them to participate in the process from home.
Following the assembly of their final blend, participants can choose from a variety of professionally designed label templates for their wine. Blending for this year’s Share-a-Barrel program is in May, 2025, and bottling is in June. Pricing for the quarter barrel, six case lots is $3,950 for the Cabernet Sauvignon, $2,500 for the Chardonnay, $2,800 for the Pinot Noir and $1,950 for the Albariño.
