New York, NY, Jan. 30, 2025 — Champagne Bruno Paillard, one of Champagne’s few remaining independent, family-owned maisons, announces the U.S. release of its first ever Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru multi-vintage champagne. The new Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru offers a Pinot Noir counterpart to the house’s existing multi-vintage Blanc de Blancs¸ a presence in the U.S. for several decades.
Imported by Massanois Fine Wines & Craft Spirits of New York, the suggested retail price for Bruno Paillard Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru is $119 per bottle
A benchmark expression of Pinot Noir from Champagne’s northern grand crus, as well as the clean, clear, precise flavors for which Champagne Bruno Paillard is known, fruit for the new Blanc de Noirs comes from four Grand Crus: Verzenay, Mailly, Verzy and Bouzy. The first three have a predominantly northern orientation; these historic, chalky terroirs unite both the elegance and distinctive depth of Pinot Noir.
“Characteristic freshness of Pinot Noir from the three northern Grand Crus is thrown into heightened relief thanks to the innate richness of Pinot Noir from Bouzy on the southeastern slope of the Montagne de Reims,” explains Alice Paillard. “The result is an exquisite juxtaposition between tension and texture — in other words, a champagne made for food-and-wine lovers.”
Juice from the first pressing only is used. It is mostly vinified in stainless steel, with a small proportion (15-20% depending on the year) in used oak barrels to enrich the blend. After three years on the lees, the champagne is disgorged and rests a minimum of six months in the cellar. As with all Maison Bruno Paillard Champagnes, the Blanc de Noirs Grand Cru is an Extra-Brut (in this case 3 g/l), with the disgorgement date clearly stated on the back label.
Combining a chiseled structure and freshness, the wine starts with a mouth-watering saline and umami sensation. The palate and length reveal rose petals, firm-fleshed red cherries, pink grapefruit, citrusy timut pepper and kumquat.
