Josh Cellars Founder Joseph Carr Honored by Massachusetts Governor for Dedication to Local Community

Carr’s Philanthropic Support of The Cape Playhouse Fuels Its Ongoing Support of the Arts

August 21, 2024 – Josh Cellars, America’s largest and fastest growing premium table wine, celebrates its founder, Joseph Carr, who was formally acknowledged by Massachusetts Governor Healey for his ongoing contributions to the arts and the local Cape Cod community where he resides.

A lifelong philanthropist, Carr’s passion extends beyond the beloved wine brand for which he is best known. Over the years, Carr’s endeavors have focused on giving back to various programs and causes, many in his adopted hometown. As a former actor and collegiate dancer, a focal point of his charitable involvement has been in the arts, which Carr credits for shaping his work ethic and pursuit of his passions. More ten years ago, Carr established an enduring relationship with The Cape Playhouse, a non-profit in Dennis, MA. One of the Cape’s premier cultural assets, the Playhouse welcomes world-class talent to its stage, alongside youth programs and education.

Carr’s support has directly contributed to fueling the Playhouse’s arts programs over many years, with most recent fundraising efforts garnering nearly $20,000.

“It was both a surprise and an honor to be acknowledged for the work we’ve been doing,” said Joseph Carr. “Charitable work that makes a direct impact locally is a guiding light for me personally and for us within the Josh Cellars family, which has historically supported charities benefiting those who serve as pillars within their communities. I look forward to continuing our important work.”

Carr’s work in the local Cape Cod community continues with his ongoing support of The Cape Playhouse and other local initiatives to support local hospitals, police and fire departments, small businesses and more. Through his ongoing work as Founder of Josh Cellars, Carr will also continue to work closely with the brand to support charitable organizations that honor his family roots, including veterans, firefighters and more.

A brand rooted in gratitude, Josh Cellars’ humble beginnings date back to 2007, when Carr sold the very first cases from the back of his truck. Named in tribute to his Dad and donning a label written in his mother’s handwriting, Josh Cellars is committed to giving back. To date, the brand has donated over $1.5 million to local and national organizations. Sourced from vineyards across California and Italy, Josh Cellars offers 12 varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Rosé, Legacy Red Blend, Prosecco, Prosecco Rosé and Pinot Grigio, and innovative offerings, including Hearth and Seaswept.
