ROSEBURG, Ore., April 3, 2024 — Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards was recently awarded three Gold Medals at the 31st Annual Monterey International Wine Competition for their 2022 Riesling Enigma, 2021 Tempranillo ‘Winemakers Reserve’, and 2022 Grüner Veltliner. Additionally, their 2021 Tempranillo ‘Winemaker’s Reserve’, a wine made to reflect the Reservas of Spain’s Rioja region, received ‘Best Tempranillo’ and 96 Points.
The Monterey International Wine Competition, held annually at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, is directed by Rich Cook, who also oversees several international wine competitions including the Critics Challenge, the San Diego Wine & Spirits Challenge, and the Toast of the Coast International Wine Competition. “Tempranillo thrives in the Umpqua Valley climate,” said Stephen Reustle, Owner/Winemaker of Reustle-Prayer Rock Vineyards. “After 22-years, our vines produce increasingly flavorful wines that encapsulate the best of the Umpqua Valley and the Tempranillo grape.”
