March 21st – Brent Stone has been named to the new position of Co-CEO of King Estate Winery in Eugene, Ore. Stone will continue in his role as Winemaker, a position he has held since 2016. Ed King, King Estate Co-Founder and Co-CEO, said Stone’s promotion was in recognition of his abilities, achievements and long tenure with King Estate. With a background as a research and development chemist, Stone joined King Estate in 2011, working as Lab Manager and Director of Quality Assurance before moving into winemaking. In 2018 he added Chief Operating Officer to his duties, assuming responsibility for day-to-day oversight of winery operations. In his new role Stone will continue to lead operations and the winemaking team. A graduate of Utah State University with a bachelor of science degree, Stone received formal training in enology at Washington State University and a master’s degree in Agricultural Food and Life Sciences from the University of Arkansas.
Founded in 1991 by Ed King and his late father, Ed King, Jr., King Estate Winery has long embraced sustainable farming practices. At 1,033 acres it is the largest Biodynamic® vineyard in North America. To this day King Estate is owned and operated by the King family.
