For the Time Ever in the USA: Sur La Table Partners with a Winery for Cooking Classes

August 14th – For the first time ever in the country, Sur La Table is partnering with a winery for the specialty retailer’s popular cooking classes. This inaugural series of six wine and food pairing classes is launching on August 17th and runs through the end of October at Sur La Table in Santa Rosa, CA (Sonoma County) in Montgomery Village, an outdoor shopping center. The cooking classes will feature wine pairings from Bricoleur Vineyards.

This exciting collaboration is a natural fit as both teams are passionate about cooking, entertaining, and bringing people together. Founded in 1972 in Seattle, Sur La Table has been offering cooking classes since 1996 and has 56 stores across the country. Bricoleur Vineyards opened in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley in 2020 and in a short time has amassed a stellar team that includes Culinary Advisor and James Beard Award-winning Chef Charlie Palmer, and winemaker Bob Cabral, the first winemaker to make a 100-point North American Pinot Noir. Bricoleur Vineyards has a robust culinary program and is known for their truly unique wine and food pairings which draw upon the bounty of their sustainably farmed culinary garden at the winery.

Sur La Table and Bricoleur Vineyards will share their expertise with home chefs through a series of six different classes, each with distinctive themes (French Luxury, Cooking with Wine, and Parisian Steakhouse – just to name a few), and paired with Bricoleur’s award-winning, critically acclaimed wines. Featuring uniquely curated menus, the interactive classes will provide guests with a hands-on experience to refine their culinary skills and discover the art of harmonizing food and wine flavors. Classes are limited to 16 students and tickets, ranging from $110 – $130 per person, can be purchased here.

Sur La Table is located at 2323 Magowan Drive within Montgomery Village in Santa Rosa, CA.

About Bricoleur Vineyards

Bricoleur Vineyards is a popular destination with visitors to Wine Country, who feel welcome in its wide embrace of activities and experiences. There’s something for everyone at Bricoleur Vineyards – from lodging & bocce to picnics & yoga – and whether guests are new to Wine Country or aficionados, there’s always something dazzling to discover at Bricoleur because the seasonal wine and food pairings from the sustainably farmed estate are constantly evolving.

Founded by the Hanson family in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley, Bricoleur Vineyards launched its first vintage in 2017 and opened its tasting room in 2020. The distinctive name, “Bricoleur,” is French for one who starts building something with no clear plan, adding bits here and there, cobbling together a whole while flying by the seat of their pants.

Bricoleur is known for their truly unique wine and food pairings, created by their lauded, all- star chefs: Culinary Advisor, James Beard Award-winning Chef Charlie Palmer; In-House Executive Chef Thomas Bellec, who’s been distinguished as a Master Chef of France by Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and spent 23 years with Four Seasons; and Chef de Cuisine Todd Knoll, who was previously with Jordan Winery and The Ritz-Carlton. The winemaking team is equally talented: Bob Cabral was Wine Enthusiast magazine’s Winemaker of the Year in 2011; Cary Gott is a fourth generation winemaker who founded his first winery more than 50 years ago; and Tom Pierson is a rising winemaker who’s studying at UC Davis’ prestigious oenology program. Together, the chefs and winemakers work hand-in-hand to create the six-course Rooted tasting and the three-course Soaring tasting at the winery. Both tastings perfectly pair Bricoleur’s elegant, award-winning wines with inventive small plates, and change throughout the year to express the seasonality of the estate’s sustainably farmed culinary garden.
