Enoforum Web Scientist 2023: 38 Researchers from 9 Countries

March 1st – Following the great success of the 2021 edition, with 42 speakers and 5500 registered participants from 70 different countries, on Monday, March 13, 2023, between 12h00 and 19h00 (CET), the second edition of the digital version of the Enoforum congress, dedicated to the world of academic research and aimed at the production sector, returns: Enoforum Web Scientists.

Many prestigious research organizations have already joined the global consortium that promotes and supports Enoforum Web Scientists, an initiative that aims to disseminate the latest results of the world’s grape and wine research not only within the academic community, but also among stakeholders in the wine industry who are unlikely to learn about it through scientific journals and congresses.

The conference program is based on cutting-edge research papers identified by an international Scientific Committee, which this year consisted of 50 researchers from 18 different countries; the committee members evaluated about 100 abstracts, submitted by researchers from 9 countries; the evaluation was based on the criterion “relevance to modern and innovative wine production.”

During the conference, authors of selected papers will present their research in a “flash-talk” format, which involves a very concise presentation focused on practical results. Stakeholders participating in the web conference will also have the opportunity to evaluate the submitted research in real time, thus contributing their votes to define the final ranking.

First, second and third place will receive a cash prize of €3,000, €2,000, €1,000 respectively. From 4th to 10th place are offered reimbursements for participation in Macrowine or IVAS 2023-24 conferences.

In addition, better-ranked researchers will be invited to present their work in expanded form at the various Enoforum conferences to be held in the next biennium (Italy 2023, Spain and the United States 2024).

The selected works cover a wide range of innovative topics for the wine industry, such as efficient water management for vineyard irrigation, application of mechanical selective harvesting, a new digital tool for training in grapevine pruning, use of yeast derivatives in winemaking, new methods for wine stabilization, oxidative and aromatic stability of wines and many others.

Enoforum Web Scientists is organized by VINIDEA, an Italian company specializing in training for wine professionals, and sponsored by the OIV (International Organization of Wine and Vine); it also enjoys the collaboration of several other scientific organizations: IVES (International Viticulture and Enology Society), IFV (Institut Français du Vin), PTV (Plataforma Tecnologica del Vino), GIENOL (Grupos de Investigación Enológica), SIVE (Italian Society of Viticulture and Enology), AWRI (Australian Wine Research Institute), SASEV (South African Society of Enology and Viticulture), DLG-Akademie (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft)

The conference is free to all wine professionals and offers simultaneous translation of the presentations, given in English, into French, Italian and Spanish languages, thanks to the support of OENOPPIA (Oenological Products and Practices International Association), SIMEI-UIV (International Enology and Bottling Machinery Exhibition-Italian Wine Union), ASSOENOLOGI (Italian Enologists’ Association) and Laboratorios Excel Ibérica.
