“Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics” Created to Recognize Outstanding Achievement in Supply Chain Management
Logistics Hall of Fame Partners with Lynmar Estate Winery Owners to Present Inaugural Award at 2023 Gala
(December 7; Sebastopol, CA) – Lynn and Anisya Fritz, owners of Lynmar Estate winery in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley and co-founders of Fritz Institute, a not-for-profit public charity which provides operational and logistics expertise to the global humanitarian and disaster relief sector, have partnered with the Logistics Hall of Fame to sponsor the “Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics.” Beginning in 2023, the medal will be presented annually to acknowledge organizations and respective partners that have made extraordinary contributions to humanitarian relief supply chain management.
“We hope this award will motivate the individuals, teams and organizations bringing much needed scientific and systems-based approaches to humanitarian aid. Our priority is to encourage them to strive for continuous improvement, and to highlight the impact of their work on those in need,” says Lynn Fritz.
“This award is an opportunity for us to recognize leaders in this space for their pioneering work, and to share best practices with a larger audience and to help shape the impact of supply chain management in humanitarian relief,” adds Dr. Anisya Fritz.
A pioneer in global logistics, Lynn Fritz is widely recognized for his achievements in applying technology-driven strategies to the logistics industry. During his 30-year tenure as chairman and CEO of Fritz Companies, he grew the company into an international enterprise operating in more than 120 countries. Following the company’s acquisition by UPS in 2001, Lynn went on to co-found Fritz Institute alongside his wife and Lynmar Estate co-proprietor Anisya Fritz, a celebrated academia scholar with a passion for business strategy and wine industry mentorship. There, they applied their expertise in the fields of business and logistics toward international humanitarian and disaster relief. In 2021, Lynn was inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame as one of the foremost advocates of logistics for humanitarian organizations.
Lynn and Anisya Fritz have also implemented their knowledge of logistics best practices in the wine industry at Lynmar Estate, the Russian River Valley winery which they’ve owned since 1980. Together, they have created a system of excellence based on measurable outcomes, plans, methods, timeframes and standards in support of their commitment to sustainable stewardship, regenerative viticulture practices and mentorship within the industry.
“Working with international humanitarian organizations has parallels to making wine in that both fields attract incredibly passionate personnel, and success in both fields requires careful consideration and monitoring of timing, conditions, and numerous intricate components which all must be balanced with precision,” says Dr. Anisya Fritz.
The Hall of Fame organization made the announcement on November 29, 2022 at its annual gala reception, which was attended by more than 200 guests within the political, business and academia arenas. “We are honored to partner with the Fritz family on this award,” says Logistics Hall of Fame Managing Partner Thilo Jörgl. “Their work in humanitarian relief logistics is exemplary of not just the spirit of the Logistics Hall of Fame, but of what we should aim to achieve in this field.”
The annual recipient of the “Lynn C. Fritz Medal for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics” will be selected by an international jury comprised of representatives from an array of categories of expertise involving business, science, politics, associations, and media. Following the common thread of the greater good, all acknowledgments are based on the criteria of efficiency, innovation, sustainability and exemplary character.
