King Estate Acquires Pfeiffer Winery

November 16th – (Eugene, Ore.) – King Estate Winery in Eugene, Ore., has acquired longtime vineyard partner Pfeiffer Winery and Vineyards, a 70-acre site in nearby Junction City. The two wineries have been friends, collaborators and vineyard partners since King Estate first purchased fruit from Pfeiffer in 1992, a relationship that continues to this day.

“This step represents the ultimate collaboration,” says King Estate CEO Ed King. “We see it as the ‘crowning’ validation of our strong friendship and a wonderful opportunity to add Pfeiffer’s outstanding vineyard to our portfolio.”

The Pfeiffer site of mostly Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris will increase King Estate’s vineyard (acres planted to vine) by 15%. King Estate has some 50 vineyard partners in Oregon and Washington.

Established in 1983, Pfeiffer Winery was owned by Robin and Danuta Pfeiffer. King Estate was founded in 1991. At 1,033 acres, King Estate is the largest Biodynamic® vineyard in North America.

No decisions have been made regarding employees or the wine club. The Pfeiffer tasting room is expected to remain open for the next several months. Details of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction was finalized on Nov. 10.
