SANTA ROSA, Calif. (November 8, 2022) – Sonoma County Vintners Foundation (SCVF) will join hundreds of millions of people around the world in celebrating GivingTuesday on November 29, 2022. This global day of giving inspires people to give, collaborate, and elevate generosity during the holiday season. SCVF is looking forward to mobilizing their vintner and donor community to raise critical funds for Sonoma County nonprofits via their simple online donation platform. An example of how the tremendous support and generosity of the Sonoma County wine and donor community changes lives was illustrated by this year’s opening of the new Caritas Center in Santa Rosa. SCVF was able to gift $1 million to the construction of the 48,000-square-foot facility, with in-house services provided by numerous dedicated nonprofits – some of which also receive funding from SCVF. This is a triumph for how effective community collaboration can be. The Press Democrat Editorial Board hailed the opening of the Caritas Center as “a testament to what this community can accomplish through collaboration and well-coordinated public and private partnerships.”
“At a crucial time in Catholic Charities’ Caritas Village Campaign, Sonoma County Vintners Foundation stepped up with a $1,000,000 investment to ensure that the project could stay on track,” said Jennielynn Holmes, CEO of Catholic Charities. “Today we are celebrating SCVF’s timely investment as we open Caritas Center’s doors to our most vulnerable brothers and sisters, with the promise of help, hope, and a new lease on life.”
SCVF also works throughout the year to provide resources for its annual Community Grants and Emergency Relief Fund. SCVF Community Grants have been distributed to more than 400 Sonoma County nonprofit organizations to date in the areas of education & literacy, health & human services, the environment, and arts & culture. The Sonoma County Vintners Foundation partners with the Community Foundation Sonoma County, who provides insights to aid in appropriating this important annual funding. In addition to funds raised during its GivingTuesday campaign, SCVF’s mission to consistently support local nonprofit organizations is made possible with proceeds from year-round philanthropic giving by its community of SCVF Changemakers and its annual Sonoma County Wine Auction.
