Bâtonnage Launches Level Three of Mentorship Program with Domaine Carneros Work Placement

Domaine Carneros will offer one mentee a 360-degree view of the wine business over the full calendar year

NAPA, CA, November 14, 2021— Bâtonnage Forum, a nonprofit organization aimed at opening up a conversation about women in wine and fostering opportunities that create equity, has officially launched Level Three of their Mentorship Program, which equips candidates to enter and grow in the wine industry by creating hands-on work opportunities to further their career progress in the wine industry. The first Level Three opportunity is a comprehensive, custom-built job placement at the Domaine Carneros winery, based in Napa, CA, to start in January 2022.

Level Three of the Bâtonnage Mentorship Program builds upon the networking, guidance, and education offered in Levels One and Two to give mentees a more in-depth, career enhancing experience. With all Level Three placements, the program aims to provide access to departmental heads and exposure to hands-on work, while providing an environment where mentees feel empowered to ask questions, grow, and gain full operational knowledge.

The first Level Three placement will take place at Domaine Carneros in Napa Valley. Founded by the Taittinger family and helmed since its inception by women, the sparkling wine house has a long history of championing women in wine across various sectors of the industry. During nearly a full calendar year—from approximately January 17 to November 11, 2022—the mentee will receive a comprehensive understanding of the wine business, working across departments from sustainable viticulture and winemaking to marketing and sales.

“We are thrilled to launch Level Three and to partner with Domaine Carneros to offer a truly unique wine business experience. This is a tremendous opportunity for candidates to gain knowledge about all areas of the business and to help define their next steps in the wine industry,“ says Priyanka French, Bâtonnage board member and winemaker at Signorello Estate.

Domaine Carneros CEO Remi Cohen states: “We are excited to be supporting this important program. The tenets of the Batonnage mission align with our business philosophy to support, encourage, and provide pathways to success for our team. We have a history of women in leadership at Domaine Carneros and now at our founding company, Champagne Taittinger, and are thrilled to partner in this mentorship opportunity.”

As part of the Level Three programming, Bâtonnage will work closely with Level Three mentor organizations to ensure mentees are supported professionally, socially, and financially for the duration of the placement.

“Our number one priority is the success of our mentees,” says Bâtonnage board chair Sarah Bray. “We are committed to making sure that Level Three offers challenging yet authentic, informative, and enriching experiences that will propel these individuals forward in their wine industry careers.

Candidates interested in the Domaine Carneros mentorship position may apply through the online form no later than this Friday, November 19, 2021. Bâtonnage and Domaine Carneros will work collaboratively during the selection process and grant one mentee the opportunity to participate in the full-year training position—to be announced on December 15.
