The Wine Industry Network (WIN) announced today that registration is open for the Wine & Weed Virtual Symposium, Fall 2020, to be broadcasted online October 28th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Despite COVID-19, and the cancellation of in-person events industry-wide, it is important to continue the conversation and explore how the California Wine industry is being impacted by the legalization of recreational cannabis consumption.
The virtual symposium will consist of 3 educational sessions featuring category experts who will share their thoughts and expertise on the performance, and potential opportunities and threats legalized cannabis poses to wine, both from a business and industry perspective.
The symposium will open with a discussion on The COVID impact on Cannabis Industry Consumers and What it Means for Wine presented by Wine & Weed Symposium Alumni speaker, Jessica Lukas of BDS Analytics, and will take a deep dive into consumer buying behavior for cannabis and wine consumer during the pandemic and the correlation between both categories. In addition, the event will also address The State of the Beverage Alcohol Industry Investment in Cannabis and What to Expect in 2021 focused on overall performance and how beverage industry companies, in particular, have ventured into cannabis along with how they are preparing for the future.
The last topic that will be discussed will focus on the question Is Cannabis a Good Thing for Napa Valley and What it Could Mean for Wine Regions? This will be presented by the Napa Valley Cannabis Association and a panel of their members. The panelists will share their perspective on why they believe cannabis will enhance the reputation of the wine industry’s most famous region and position the region for success with this generation’s consumer along with the next.
