Andis Wines Hires Mark Fowler as Winemaker

Veteran Amador County Winemaker Joins Leading Amador Winery

(Plymouth, Calif.)—January 14, 2019—Andis Wines, one of Amador County’s most notable wineries, today announced the appointment of Mark Fowler as Winemaker. In his new role, Fowler will work closely with the Atelier Melka winemaking team of Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky, overseeing day-to-day winemaking under the direction of the Melka team. Fowler will also be actively involved in the management of Andis’ estate vineyard, as well working with growers and the Melka team to source the best fruit.

Fowler has held winemaking and viticulture positions in Amador and El Dorado counties for the past 15 years. He joins Andis from his most recent role as Associate Winemaker and Viticulturist at Skinner Vineyards. He has also worked at Domain De La Terre Rouge, Cielo Estate and Shakeridge Ranch.

“We have known Mark for more than seven years and have always loved and been impressed with the quality of his wines. We are very excited to have Mark join our team,” said Andy Friedlander, proprietor.

Located in the heart of Amador County in California’s Sierra Foothills, Andis Wines was founded in 2009 by Andy Friedlander and Janis Akuna, who had the aim of creating world-class wines from Amador County. The married couple opened their modern, state-of-the-art winery in 2010, and in 2016 brought on famed winemaking consultant Philippe Melka and his Atelier Melka winemaking team.
