Holidays Tradition in a Glass

This year, the Tedeschi family suggests the Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi 2011- one of the greatest vintages of the last 20 years -as well as the Recioto della Valpolicella Docg Classico Capitel Fontana to celebrate holidays with the warmth and values that we pass on from generation to generation.

December 6, 2024 (Verona) – From the wine archives of the Tedeschi family comes the suggestion to celebrate holidays this year with the Amarone della Valpolicella Capitel Monte Olmi 2011, one of the greatest vintages of the last 20 years.

With the 2017 vintage nearly sold out, and while we wait for the 2018 vintage that will be ready at the new year, the Capitel Monte Olmi 2011 is preserved in the “library” of labels produced by the historic Veronese winery. This subterranean space, inaugurated at the beginning of this year, represents a retelling of the enological evolution of Valpolicella and the longevity of the Amarone through old vintages up to present day vintages, according to the unmistakable Tedeschi style.

With the capacity to age for much longer, the Amarone della Valpolicella Capitel Monte Olmi 2011 expresses its bouquet of Marasca cherries, orange peel, and floral elements with maturity, remaining in the mouth for a long and fragrant finish. It is an ideal wine to accompany the rich sauces and meat dishes typical of Italian holidays cuisine and pairs perfectly with the Veronese traditional dish of “bollito con la pearà.”

For the last 60 years, the Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Olmi has been a unique and contemporary wine. Born of Lorenzo Tedeschi’s intuition to valorize a single but particularly special vineyard before Cru was even known in Italy, this wine continues to express fully the stylistic philosophy of the Tedeschi family thanks to research undertaken over the years by the siblings   Antonietta, Sabrina, and Riccardo. The research collaboration with the University of Verona has for the first time scientifically clarified the mechanism that defines the territoriality of a wine, revealed last June in a piece on the aromatic imprint of every terroir entitled, “The sense of place of a wine.”

Another Tedeschi suggestion for holidays is the Recioto della Valpolicella, which has roots in the territory of origin. The Recioto is a niche wine that tells the story of the wineries that produce it, and the custom of serving it at important occasions.

Tedeschi’s Recioto della Valpolicella Capitel Fontana is a wine with delicate sweetness that is fruity, fresh, and structured, making it suitable for even unconventional gastronomic pairings. It can be brought to the table at the end of a meal to be paired with strong-tasting cheeses such as gorgonzola and traditional holidays confections such as pandoro and sbrisolona. The wine can even be paired with foie gras to add softness and flavor to the holiday antipasto.

The Tedeschi family wishes a peaceful holidays to everyone.
