Greve in Chianti, May 10th 2024 –Vecchie Terre di Montefili proudly announces the achievement of the Diversity Ark certification, recognising the company’s consistent commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. This milestone results from extensive research and collaboration across the farming sector, affirming the work ethic and ecosystem care that Vecchie Terre di Montefili has pursued since its inception.
The certification was created by agronomists Stefano Amadeo and Stefano Zaninotti, to emphasise the importance of a holistic approach to agriculture. Monitoring soil wellness, wildlife and flora biodiversity protection, no harmful substances such as dangerous herbicides and pesticides are to be used. Last but not least, the complete absence of plastics in the soil is mandatory for the certification, promoting agricultural management that prevents ecosystem disruption.
Serena Gusmeri, chief winemaker and agronomist at Vecchie Terre di Montefili, commented: “The Diversity Ark certification validates our commitment to viticulture that not only protects but also enhances biodiversity and ecological balance in our vineyards. The certification also facilitates the adoption of these important principles by many other agricultural entities, making the process more efficient and less burdensome. Additionally, European-level accreditation by CSQA and registration at EUIPO ensure official recognition of the sustainable practices promoted by Vecchie Terre di Montefili.
