On December 8, 2023, the European Union implemented a new wine labelling regulation, mandating the declaration of nutritional and ingredient information in a specific format. This directly impacts all wineries exporting to Europe. Instead of necessitating a completely new back label design, the EU allows an ‘off-label solution’ in which the necessary information is transmitted to consumers via a QR code – known as an E-Label.
