Sonoma-Cutrer Releases the 2022 Rosé of Pinot Noir

WINDSOR, Calif., March 6, 2023 – Today, award-winning California producer Sonoma-Cutrer announces the arrival of the 2022 Rosé of Pinot Noir. Like all other wines in its portfolio of sustainable-certified wines, the new rosé showcases their respect for Burgundian traditions, Californian ingenuity and a deep appreciation for Russian River Valley’s remarkable terroir.

“Our vineyards provided a beautiful variety of elegant and balanced fruit which presented wonderful flavors and perfect acidity,” says Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Noir Winemaker Zidanelia Arcidiacono. “This new vintage is a beautiful example of why Russian River Valley Pinot Noir makes a fantastic rosé.”

As with prior rosé vintages, fruit was specifically grown and harvested to make this wine. Grapes were harvested in August from Sonoma-Cutrer’s Vine Hill and Owsley Vineyards. Clusters were destemmed and pressed leaving the juice in direct contact with the skins for a short period of time to achieve the perfect pale pink color. Immediately afterward, grapes were gently pressed to obtain the juice. Each batch of rosé was fermented separately in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to protect the delicate aromas and flavors. After fermentation, the rosé batches were blended together and prepared for bottling in early December.

“Though the first three months of the year were some of the driest on record, Sonoma County had perfect spring and summer seasons and a beautiful August,” said Director of Winemaking Mick Schroeter. “The fruit gave us just perfect flavors and acidity for this Rosé of Pinot Noir vintage.”

Tasting Notes: The light salmon color of the wine catches the light in the glass and opens up to aromas of tangerine, wild strawberry, raspberry, a light touch of watermelon, and perfumed rose petals. A crisp, refreshing mouthfeel accentuates the fresh fruit flavors of red berry fruit and a tropical twist that leads to a long, juicy, and tangy finish.
