Calistoga Depot Opens to Reveal Phase One of Historic Landmark’s Renewal

Calistoga Depot launches with the opening of Provisions, a modern mercantile and wine shop

CALISTOGA, CA (July 18, 2022) – Built in 1868, the historic Calistoga Depot, California’s second oldest train  station, has opened its doors to reveal the first phase of its renewal—Calistoga Depot Provisions, a modern mercantile and wine shop. The grand opening will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the re-opening of the Calistoga Depot, which had been closed for several years. The ribbon cutting ceremony, hosted by Jean-Charles Boisset, Mayor Chris Canning, and the Calistoga Chamber of Commerce will take place on Wednesday, July 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

“This is a historic moment for the Calistoga Depot and American wine history,” expressed Jean-Charles Boisset. “We are honored to continue the story of this iconic destination by meticulously returning her to her former glory and showcasing all of the elements this grand estate has to offer!”

Under the stewardship of Proprietor Jean-Charles Boisset, The Depot will evolve in multiple phases marked with the launch of Depot Provisions. Provisions is a gourmet delicatessen, mercantile and wine shop featuring local, artisanal products. Guests will find on offer cheese, charcuterie, gourmet goods and prepared foods such as pizza, sandwiches, and hamburgers, including breakfast items such as baked goods and coffee. Many of the foods will be locally sourced and sustainably and organically grown. The Depot will also have a phenomenal wine selection highlighting Calistoga and Napa Valley favorites and rarities, available by the glass or bottle, as  well as an outdoor patio and bar with select local beers, ciders, limonades, local water, and more in a serene courtyard that features a pizza oven.

As the Depot evolves, the hall, which will be known as the Calistoga Depot Distillery 1868, will be home to a local spirits tasting discovery with spirits tastings, barrel tastings, and crafted cocktails. A historical timeline  and photos will showcase the story of Sam Brannan, the creation of the Depot, and illustrate how Sam Brannan  became the first millionaire of California.

Outside the Depot, individual rail cars will be converted into several destinations, including Earth & Sky Chocolates (now open), The First Millionaire’s Saloon (named after Sam Brannan); a Champagne and oyster bar; a Mexican restaurant; and Le Clos Napa Valley, a retail boutique featuring lifestyle apparel, candles, fragrances and spa wear.

Calistoga Depot is set to become a community and visitor gathering place rooted in history, authenticity and integrity anchored in the story of its founder, Sam Brannan. Calistoga Depot is located at 1458 Lincoln Avenue, Calistoga; the Provisions store is open from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. daily. To learn more about the Calistoga Depot, visit calistogadepot.com
