Women of the Vine & Spirits Announces Women Raising the Bar: A Beverage Alcohol Industry-Specific DE&I Study in Collaboration with Deloitte

Findings help to identify both leading practices and areas for improvement in gender Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) in the beverage alcohol industry.

March 7, 2022 (New York, NY) – Women of the Vine & Spirits (WOTVS), the all-encompassing global membership organization, dedicated to boldly pushing the wine, beer and spirits industry toward a more diverse, equitable and inclusive era has announced the first industry-specific DE&I Baseline Report: Women Raising the Bar, in collaboration with Deloitte. The study offers companies in the beverage alcohol industry the opportunity to engage in holistic conversations around DE&I, identifying both leading practices and areas for improvement.

This study provides an industry-specific report to establish a standardized framework from which to measure company performance against DE&I benchmarks going forward. This standardized framework can allow companies to evaluate leading practices and hold themselves accountable for building more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces.

Through Executive Interviews, individual surveys and company-wide questionnaires, Deloitte performed an analysis and identified areas where the beverage alcohol industry is seeing positive change as well as areas to drive improvement. Including:

  • Employee perceptions of organizational diversity
  • Company efforts to promote Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Issues preventing people from considering a career in Beverage Alcohol
  • The current state of DE&I in Beverage Alcohol

“We know that it will be over 100 years until we achieve gender equity in the workplace. Until now, companies have relied on very limited data since most studies have included the beverage alcohol sector as part of a broader food and beverage industry categorization,” said Deborah Brenner, Founder & CEO of Women of the Vine & Spirits. “This baseline report on DE&I in Beverage Alcohol will help inform leaders, allies, and the next generation on how to effectively fasten the pace towards equity, creating more inclusive workplaces and increasing your company’s bottom line.”

Deloitte has significant experience creating DE&I reports, recognizing how critical diversity, equity and inclusion is to business performance. Challenges often lie in translating a nod of the head to the value of diversity, equity and inclusion into impactful actions.

Women of the Vine & Spirits will be announcing more information about this industry specific study during their Annual Conference, WOTVS Global CONNECT! on March 8th, 2022. Open to WOTVS Corporate Members, panelists will include representatives from Deloitte as well as industry leaders who participated in the study’s Executive Interviews. Learn More.
