(January 31, 2022; Snohomish, Wash.)—Snohomish-based Quilceda Creek has received top rankings in CellarTracker’s 2021 A Year in Wine Report. The Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ranked No. 5 of the ten wines with the highest ratings and No. 8 of the ten most gifted wines. The Quilceda Creek CVR Red Wine ranked No. 6 on the list of ten most gifted wines. This report is based on a collection of ratings and reviews from the entire year and reflects which wines CellarTracker’s 11 million users feel are the best overall. Of the roughly 4 million wines on the site, only ten are selected for each category per year.

“We were honored to receive these rankings, as they reflect the dedication that goes into each bottle of Quilceda Creek wine,” says President & Director of Winemaking Paul Golitzin. “Here at Quilceda Creek, we are highly focused on selection and always want to provide our customers with the best possible wines. We are so pleased to know that people are enjoying and sharing our carefully crafted Cabernet Sauvignon. It truly underscores that we continue to be on the right track after 40 years.”

Quilceda Creek is honored to be included in this list which features other notable producers like Château Haut-Brion, Château Margaux, Château Latour and Chateau d’Yquem.

CellarTracker is the world’s largest collection of wine reviews, tasting notes and personal stories from people who love wine. CellarTracker’s annual report is a way to provide consumers with data on the world’s best wines, chosen by the CellarTracker community. The CellarTracker website is consistently growing and offers 9 million reviews of almost 4 million different wines.

Quilceda Creek has consistently ranked as one of the best Cabernet Sauvignon producers in the United States and has been lauded by the international wine community since earning the first domestic 100-point score outside of California from Wine Advocate for the 2002 vintage of Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Under Paul Golitzin’s direction, the winery has gone on to receive some of the highest reviews and awards of any winery in the United States, including seven 100-point scores from the Wine Advocate and three 100-point scores from Decanter, three top ten wines of the year in Wine Spectator, and Wine Enthusiast’s best Cabernet of the Year. This past year, the team celebrated the 40th vintage release of Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon which was one of only 14 wines that scored a perfect 100-points from Decanter in 2021 and the only U.S. wine to be awarded this distinction.

About Quilceda Creek Winery

Quilceda Creek was established in 1978 by Alex and Jeannette Golitzin. The winery’s first vintage was in 1979, making Quilceda Creek the 12th oldest winery in Washington after prohibition. Alex Golitzin’s inspiration to start the winery was nurtured through many visits to the Napa Valley in his youth, where he spent time with his maternal uncle, André Tchelistcheff, the legendary Napa Valley winemaker known as the “Dean of American Winemaking.” Paul Golitzin joined his father as winemaker in 1992 and directs all aspects of vineyard management and winemaking. With a gifted palate and a no-compromise commitment to quality, Paul focused the winery’s attention on its greatest assets: the vineyards of the Columbia Valley. Quilceda Creek wines are an expression of four vineyards: Champoux, Galitzine, Palengat and Mach One Vineyards. Paul’s vision catapulted the wines to a new level of excellence, resulting in some of the highest reviews and awards of any winery in the United States, including seven 100-point scores from the Wine Advocate and three 100-point scores from Decanter, three top 10 wines of the year in Wine Spectator, and Wine Enthusiast’s best Cabernet of the Year.
