Dominus Estate in Napa Valley’s Yountville AVA (American Viticultural Area) is a prime example of even the most experienced winemakers needing more time to achieve their goals. It’s the result of vintner Christian Moueix’s more than 50 vintages of experience on two continents, producing wines from differing terroirs. It’s a wine that comes from taking time, and a wine that will require time in the cellar. It’s a benchmark for its region and vintage.

Through blind tastings performed by Wine Spectator’s editors, these 100 bottles were chosen from over 12,500 wines. Selections are based on four criteria: quality (represented by score), value (reflected by price), availability (based on the number of cases made or imported into the U.S.) and, most significantly, the “X-factor”—a compelling story behind the wine.
