June 2021—Chicago, IL: Gonzalez Byass USA, a family-owned national importer of fine wines, Sherries and premium spirits, is pleased to announce the introduction of 2020 Loess Gruner Veltliner from Domäne Wachau, the first wine in a one-liter/1000ml bottle size format from Domäne Wachau to be released in the U.S. market.
Domäne Wachau, led by Winery Director, Roman Horvath MW and Oenologist & Cellar Master, Heinz Frischengruber, has developed into one of the top wineries in Austria, with an excellent range of award winning Wachau wines that beautifully reflect their origin.
The small vineyard plots along the Danube riverbed and valley floor provide the sourcing for the Loess Gruner Veltliner 1L. Loess (pronounced ‘low-ess’ in English), refers to the soil found in these vineyards, which reflect wines that are slightly fresher and fruitier compared to the wines produced from the gneiss soils (pronounced ‘nice’ in English), found in the steeper Wachau Valley vineyard slopes.
All grapes are hand-picked, Vegan and Sustainable Austria certified. A one-liter wine bottle size format holds 1 1/3 standard bottles or 7 glasses of wine.
