Willamette Valley’s Bryn Mawr Vineyards Retains Palmateer Wine Group

Bryn Mawr produces elevated, accessible wines made in the cool-climate Eola-Amity Hills AVA

Salem, Ore. (December 7, 2020)—Bryn Mawr Vineyards in Oregon’s Willamette Valley has selected Palmateer Wine Group of San Rafael, California, to spearhead distribution and marketing within the U.S. With this new partnership, Bryn Mawr seeks to broaden its audience for the winery’s world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Welsh for “high hill,” Bryn Mawr is perched atop the steep western crest of the Eola-Amity hills, renowned throughout the Willamette Valley for their powerful maritime winds. Owners Jon and Kathy Lauer saw past daunting volcanic boulders and blackberry brambles to the site’s enormous potential and purchased the vineyard in 2009, hiring winemaker Rachel Rose to lead the growth and development of both the vineyard and wine programs.

After nearly a decade operating out of the Lauers’ basement, Bryn Mawr moved into its new winery facility in 2018. A year later, construction was complete on their new tasting room with an expansive deck, offering unimpeded views of the Willamette Valley from the Cascades to the Coast Range.

Bryn Mawr winemaker Rachel Rose has elevated the winery’s production from a modest operation to 6,500 cases, with approachable and elegant wines at varying price points. Bryn Mawr produces world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its own sustainably farmed site and from neighboring vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. 

In addition, Bryn Mawr also makes small lots of experimental whites, pinks and reds, including Riesling ($25), Pinot Blanc ($25), Dolcetto ($35), and Tempranillo ($50). An emerging sparkling program began in 2018, seeded by a sparkling rosé, but soon expanding into méthode traditionnelle blanc de noirs.
