Wine Enthusiast Names Lail Vineyards’ 2017 Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon the #1 Wine of 2020

The wine was chosen from among 25,000 entries from around the world for the top spot on “The Enthusiast 100

ST. HELENA, Calif. (November 23, 2020) – Robin Daniel Lail, founder and owner of Lail Vineyards, is thrilled to announce that Lail Vineyards’ 2017 Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon is Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s #1 wine of 2020. Throughout the year, the team of global experts at Wine Enthusiast tastes 25,000 wines from around the world that they consider for their highly-anticipated list, “The Enthusiast 100,” which was released today.

Robin Lail is the driving force in an intriguing family six generations deep in Napa Valley winemaking. Her ancestors founded Inglenook in 1879, where her father, John Daniel, Jr., created wines that are widely regarded as some of the best of the 20th Century. After working with her father’s protégé, Robert Mondavi, Robin co-founded Dominus with Christian Moueix, and Merryvale with Bill Harlan. She then launched her own brand with her daughters, Erin and Shannon, in 1995. As Lail Vineyards celebrates its 25th anniversary, Robin is enormously grateful to Wine Enthusiast for this tremendous honor.

“To have our wine selected as #1 out of 25,000 global submissions tasted throughout the year is astounding. We are endlessly thankful to the team at Wine Enthusiast,” said Robin. “Growing up in our family, the lesson was instilled in us early on that with each vintage we work hard to make the wine even better than the vintage that came before. We are always striving for perfection and this incredible distinction from Wine Enthusiast is an affirmation of our team’s efforts, especially our winemaker, Philippe Melka.”

Deep ruby, with exotic aromas of plum and bittersweet chocolate, the 2017 Blueprint Cabernet Sauvignon from Lail Vineyards has spicy, complex flavors of olallieberry, blackberry, and boysenberry. Its texture is round, lush, creamy, and perfectly balanced. A select number of magnums are available for $195 per bottle, and can be found at www.lailvineyards.com.

Robin is the Porto Protocol U.S. Representative and 10% of Blueprint sales from purchases made directly from Lail Vineyards’ site is donated to organizations deep in the fight against climate change.
