Far Niente Family of Wineries & Vineyards Expands with Launch of Post & Beam Winery

New brand offers Far Niente drinkers classic expressions of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay

Oakville, Calif., 2020 — Far Niente Family of Wineries and Vineyards (FNFWV), announces today the launch of Post & Beam Winery. Named for the simple yet elegant barns that dot the American landscape, Post & Beam wines represent craftsmanship, tradition, legacy and purity in winemaking.  The winery is the latest addition to the Far Niente Family of Wineries and Vineyards, joining Far Niente, Dolce, Nickel & Nickel, EnRoute, and Bella Union. Post & Beam will debut with two wines—a 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $50), and a 2019 Napa Valley Chardonnay (SRP $35).

“We are excited to be able to bring Post & Beam wines to those looking for an indelible Napa Valley wine drinking experience,” said Steve Spadarotto, CEO of the Far Niente Family. “With this new brand, our portfolio will have the potential to engage both current and new consumers at various price points, from everyday luxury to special occasion wines. Post & Beam continues our tradition of building wineries from the ground up with a focus on quality and authenticity.”

The original Far Niente winery was established in Oakville, CA in 1885 and is now a seminal name within the Napa Valley community, recognized for its lineup of luxury Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Post & Beam offers renditions of classic Napa Valley wines that reflect the esteemed pedigree of Far Niente’s varietals and terroir. The veteran winemaking team will be led by Far Niente’s Director of Winemaking Andrew Delos, who will be crafting the wines from carefully selected Napa Valley vineyards. Post & Beam strives to honor the fundamentals of traditional winemaking techniques to create simple, elegant, pure expressions of each grape in its finest form.

“I am excited to be helping expand the Far Niente wine lineup with another exceptional label from the Napa Valley,” notes Delos. “Our goal with Post & Beam is to showcase what traditional winemaking methods and the highest quality fruit can do with the talented team we have here.”

At launch, Post & Beam wines will be available for purchase in retail and limited restaurant locations throughout California and direct to consumer at the winery website. Distribution for the brand will continue to expand to more locations countrywide.

About Far Niente Family of Wineries and Vineyards

Far Niente was established in Oakville, CA in 1885 and prospered until the onset of Prohibition in 1919, when the winery ceased operation and the estate was abandoned. Sixty years later, in 1979, the old stone shell of a winery underwent a three-year renovation, which restored the building to its original, 19th century grandeur. During restoration, the name “Far Niente,” which romantically translated means “without a care,” was found carved in stone on the front of the building.

Far Niente helped create the high-end Napa Valley wine market and has served as the benchmark wine estate for more than three decades. Dolce, the only North American winery devoted to a single-late harvest Napa Valley wine was introduced in 1989. Nickel & Nickel, launched in 1997, is focused on producing single-vineyard, 100 percent varietal, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. EnRoute, established in 2007 in the Russian River Valley, is dedicated to the appellation’s Pinot Noir. Most recently Bella Union, devoted to Napa Valley Cabernet and located along Bella Oaks Lane in Rutherford, introduced its first wine with the 2012 vintage.  Together, the wineries comprise the Far Niente Family of Wineries and Vineyards.
