Portland, OR, December 16, 2019—The Oregon Winegrowers Association (OWA) has appointed Jana McKamey as its new executive director, effective January 1, 2020. Alongside the OWA Board of Directors, McKamey will be tasked with leading and advocating for the state’s winegrowers and winemakers in a common vision to protect the investments of all who contribute to Oregon’s world-class reputation. The OWA is committed to keeping the Oregon wine community at the forefront of innovation and adaptation to the evolving landscape of the complex global industry.
“Jana is widely recognized for her exemplary work as a trusted resource and fierce advocate for our industry,” says Kevin Chambers, incoming 2020 OWA board president and owner of Koosah Farm in the Eola-Amity Hills. “She is a visionary and a diplomat who can harness the power of diverse voices and interests throughout the state.”
McKamey, who has held various roles with the organization since 2012, takes on the OWA leadership role previously held by Tom Danowski, who remains president of the Oregon Wine Board (OWB). His resignation is effective December 31, 2019 after eight years of accomplished leadership that has allowed the organization to deliver strong results on behalf of the industry. This change is part of a concerted effort to redefine and clarify the separate roles and missions of the OWA and OWB.
