Flambeaux Wine Hires Hospitality Pro Busby

John Busby, Director of Hospitality – Flambeaux WIne

December 17, 2024 (Healdsburg – CALIF.) — Flambeaux Wine has hired new Director of Hospitality John Busby, who brings more than a decade of wine industry management, sales and hospitality experience to the team.

“The addition of John Busby has elevated Flambeaux’s tradition of providing personalized, high-touch hospitality for those that have recently discovered or have been long-time fans of our wines,” said Flambeaux Vintner and Co-Owner Art Murray, “From the start he has been the perfect fit with our close-knit, family-based winery.”

Busby worked in asset management with UBS Financial Services, before following his passion for wine, landing management roles working for wine industry pioneers Richard Sanford and Steve Clifton in Santa Barbara, and most recently as director of DTC and hospitality at Rodney Strong Wine Estates.

“I am excited to be working with Art Murray and the team at Flambeaux,” Busby added, “Their dedication to producing outstanding small-lot wines that reflect a sense of place, paired with uniquely warm, New Orleans-inspired hospitality is unparalleled. I am honored to continue building on the winery’s success.” Originally from Texas, Busby has lived in California for more than 25 years.

The Murray family founded Flambeaux in Healdsburg, California. Art Murray leads the winery, along with his parents Steve and Pattie Murray, and daughters Alys, Elizabeth, Nia and Lila Murray. At Flambeaux, Winemaker Ryan Prichard (who now also makes wine at Three Sticks, and has worked at Williams Selyem, Copain Custom Crush and Medlock Ames) employs the Murray family’s philosophy of allowing the grapes to evolve and naturally grow into what they become. With this minimalist approach, the fruit ends up as the best of itself and results in intriguing and exciting wines.
