Ronan Sayburn MS of the Court of Master Sommeliers and Neil Tully MW added to judging panel alongside Head Judge Angela Scott, Jancis Robinson MW, Rajat Parr, Clément Robert MS, and Nina Basset FIH
12th March 2024 – The Gérard Basset Foundation, Liquid Icons and Taylor’s Port are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 Taylor’s Port Golden Vines Diversity Scholarships. Since 2021, these scholarships have offered financial support, guidance, mentorship, and incredible internship opportunities for individuals interested in undertaking the MW (Master of Wine) and MS (Master Sommelier) programmes. Each Taylor’s Port Scholarship offers the winner £55,000 to fund their studies and to undertake their choice of internships from an extensive list of providers comprising some of the world’s greatest estates devoted to crafting the finest wines and spirits. Three Taylor’s Port Scholarships will be offered in 2024.
Applications are officially open as of 11th March 2024 and will close at midnight GMT on 12th April 2024.
According to Romané Basset, co-founding Trustee of The Gérard Basset Foundation and son of Gérard Basset: “The Taylor’s Port Golden Vines Diversity Scholarships aim to provide financial support, guidance, mentorship, and internship opportunities for individuals interested in undertaking the MW and MS programmes. This initiative seeks to significantly enhance the educational and career opportunities for its recipients. We welcome applications from a wide range of communities, including those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, all ethnicities, religions, genders, sexual orientations, disabilities, and individuals affected by conflict.

The Gérard Basset Foundation is also delighted to announce that Ronan Sayburn MS of the Court of Master Sommeliers and Neil Tully MW of the Institute of Masters of Wine will join Head Judge Angela Scott (Winner of a 2021 Taylor’s Port Golden Vines Diversity Scholarship), Jancis Robinson MW (Trustee of The Gérard Basset Foundation), Rajat Parr (Sandhi Wines), Clement Robert MS (Liquid Icons) and Nina Basset FIH (co founding Trustee of The Gérard Basset Foundation) as two incredible new additions to the judging panel.
