OAKLAND, CA. (March 4, 2024) – McBride Sisters Wine Company, the namesake brand created by Robin McBride and Andréa McBride John, announces the addition of the McBride Sisters Collection Legacy portfolio, a lineup of bold yet balanced luxury wines from California. McBride Sisters Collection Legacy portfolio is an ode to Mother Nature and the bountiful grapes and terrain that she sows for winemaking, as well as the story of Robin and Andréa as they trailblaze a new path that breaks from tradition.
The portfolio’s character and elegant packaging is inspired by the story of the two sisters who grew up on opposite sides of the world, only to reunite and discover their shared passion for wine. Today, Robin and Andréa cement their legacy through being disruptors in the industry and breaking the confines of tradition, an ideology that has led them to become the most successful Black-owned and women-founded wine company in America.
The label on each bottle tells the story of the sisters through symbolism, tying back to a piece of their personality, heritage, and the feelings they desire to evoke when a bottle of McBride Sisters Collection Legacy is enjoyed.

The first wines in the portfolio are made using Rhone varietals found within Edna Valley in San Luis Obispo near the Pacific Ocean, which creates light-to-medium-body red wines with powerful aromas, rounded flavors, a depth of earthiness and a lively acidity. In recent years, Edna Valley, which has the longest viticultural growing season in California, has garnered acclaim for growing some of the most concentrated and focused Syrahs and Grenaches. This can be attributed to the grapes’ ability to achieve optimum ripeness while maintaining remarkable freshness.
“Robin and I are connected by the Pacific Ocean as it touches the coasts of New Zealand, where I was raised, and California, where Robin was raised,” says Andréa McBride John, Co-Founder of McBride Sisters Wine Company. “Beyond holding a personal place in our hearts, it also impacts the selection of our growing environments that make our wines distinctive, memorable, and delicious, and that rings true with Legacy. As believers in never over-manipulating the grape, we take great care in this process.”
McBride Sisters Collection Legacy portfolio includes:
- 2019 Syrah ($90): This Syrah has a deep purple-red color with a velvety pour that opens to savory, peppery aromas laid atop dark black cherries, purple blackberries and boysenberries. Hints of bacon fat and graphite add a provocative allure next to beautiful lavender-led florals. Firm and gripping on the palate with dense fruit flavors and lively acidity that accentuates the white pepper. Light toasty oak makes an appearance at the end and lends a pastry-like, berry-pie flavor for an indelible finish.
- 2019 GSM ($90): A red composed of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre has a structured blend with a striking deep ruby color and a translucent magenta rim. This wine’s aroma shows a melange of rainier cherry, ripe raspberry and juicy pomegranate. Cool-climate Syrah brings a white pepper spice and botanical notes reminiscent of Herbes de Provence with a subtle hint of dried orange peel and lush fruit in the mouth. Soft tannin, supple with bottle age, leads to a long, fruit-driven finish with earthy undertones.
- 2020 Grenache ($80): This Grenache is medium ruby in color and is brightly aromatic yet grounded in earthy hints of soulful spice. Concentrated red cherry graced with notes of rose petals, sweet sage and pepper. In the mouth, lifted acidity, reminiscent of just-ripe raspberry and tart cherry, treats the palate to a perfect frame around the intensity of the fruit. Ripe red fruit flavors persist on the considerable finish.
