Pioneering Sparkling Winery Celebrates 50 Years in Napa Valley with the Reveal of a Redesigned Chandon Home & All-New Guest Experiences That Embrace the Heart of Hosting
Napa Valley, CA (October 24, 2023) – CHANDON, makers of exceptional sparkling wines from unexpected lands across the globe, is excited to unveil a beautifully redesigned winery home as well as completely reimagined guest experiences and events at their Napa Valley home this fall. Within the ambitiously renovated CHANDON Home, sparkling wine lovers and adventure-seekers alike are invited to explore new curated sparkling wine experiences and memorable hosting-inspired journeys that showcase the craft and community of CHANDON.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary as a pioneer of sparkling wine in the Napa Valley this year, CHANDON was inspired by this milestone moment to reimagine its iconic Yountville property to host visitors with a contemporary vision of luxury, natural beauty, and warm hospitality.
Arnaud de Saignes, President of CHANDON, says, “We are thrilled to invite friends of the brand and newcomers to discover our epic story, groundbreaking winemaking, and warm hospitality, all within a reimagined space that truly embraces the natural beauty of our home in the heart of Napa. In our lands, people, and craft, we have always taken the unexpected route. Now we are ready to tell our story, host in the inclusive, informal, and spontaneous way we do best, and to create lasting memories as we go – we invite everyone to join us.”
The first of CHANDON’s six sparkling wineries from around the world to undergo this exciting transformation, this update also marks the first renovation to CHANDON’s Napa home since it opened to guests in 1977. CHANDON California tapped Taalman Architecture to bring to life a fresh and reimagined winery home, featuring organic shapes and materials with environmental sensitivity and authentically Northern California design in mind. The result is an inviting oasis for visitors that aligns perfectly with the winery’s quintessentially Californian ethos. CHANDON California’s iconic barrel-shaped roofs remain but now preside over a series of beautifully fluid and inviting indoor/outdoor hosting areas that focus on sunlight, texture, and nature in an easy-going and hospitable environment.
Linda Taalman, Founder of Taalman Architecture, notes, “The vision for CHANDON’s California home is a space that allows one to feel naturally at home and be stimulated in a multi-sensory way. It is a journey for the mind and senses. We opened up the visual paths across spaces to allow guests to feel they are part of a larger community; we opened up the building to the outdoors to increase connection to the land; and we brought in natural elements to soften hard edges and create a warm, inspiring energy within this historic structure and site.”
Similar to winemaking, the materials and techniques used in the CHANDON Home project reflect the transformation of raw materials into complex beauty through craft and care, remaining true to the winery’s origins while becoming something entirely new. The inviting indoor and outdoor spaces are a natural expression of the brand and seamlessly draw visitors to immerse themselves into the history, craft and heart of CHANDON.
“For us, it’s about welcoming everyone. Of course, we want our wines to be well-executed and really impeccable. But at the end of the day, we’re making sparkling wine, bubbles, to bring people together,” said Pauline Lhote, Director of Winemaking at CHANDON California. “It’s that sense of home that we tried to encapsulate in this new space and we hope people feel that ease and comfort when visiting CHANDON and enjoying our wines and culinary experiences.”
The completely reimagined events and guest experiences – whether ready-made or custom-created – are informal, communal, and a delight for the senses. While guests are welcome to join CHANDON without appointment, bookable offerings will include unique epicurean experiences, a multi course farm-to-table tasting menu, sailcloth cabanas perfect for groups, picnic boxes on the garden lawn, dinner tastings under the stars, masterclass options led by CHANDON’s winemakers, and much more. From the new Epicurean Hub to the reimagined Garden Lawn, all CHANDON Home spaces emphasize shared experiences that educate, inspire and engage.
Stéphane de Meurville, Estate Director of CHANDON California, says, “Taalman Architecture has reworked an icon in a fluid, organic contemporary vernacular style that perfectly expresses CHANDON’s informal, spontaneous character and the nature of our terroir. It’s a very special place to call home.”
CHANDON Home is a showcase of craft, but more: it’s a place where all guests can come to feel at home. It’s an expression of who CHANDON is and a place where warm hospitality can be extended via enjoyable, meaningful sensory experiences and events amongst curious explorers.
