LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards further solidifies position as generational land stewards and commitment to California wine industry
ACAMPO, CALIF. – JUNE 16, 2023 – Randall Lange, Co-Founder of LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards, a critically acclaimed fifth generation estate winery and sustainable grape grower, was inducted as the Wine Institute Chairman on June 13, 2023 at the organization’s 89th Annual Membership and Board of Directors Meeting. Representing nearly 1,000 wineries and affiliated businesses, Wine Institute is the voice for California wine as the only U.S. organization advocating for wine at the state, federal, and international levels.
From setting down roots in Lodi in the 1870’s to being one of the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in 1982, the LangeTwins Family has long been involved in the wine industry. Across the current two generations, family members have thrice served as Chairman of the Board for the Lodi Winegrape Commission, twice served as the Chairman of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA), and twice served as Chairman of the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG). Randall Lange is the first to serve as Chairperson for both CAWG (2006-2007) and Wine Institute (2023-2024), illustrating his lifelong commitment to the wine industry and farming community.
“I am honored to be elected Wine Institute’s Chairman,” said Randall Lange of LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards. “This organization has paved the way for California’s wine producers to grow into an invaluable and sustainable part of the state’s economic landscape and a provider of beautiful wines to the world. There are critical issues before us and policy challenges that affect wine producers of all sizes in California. I look forward to chairing the organization and working with the organization’s leadership to forge California’s next generation of wine growth.”
LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards is a flagbearer for innovative farming practices and sustainability, participating in the Lodi Winegrape Commission’s grassroots farmer education program that later became the LODI RULES for Sustainable Winegrowing. In 2006, Brad and Randall Lange received the very first California Leopold Award by the Sand County Foundation for Environmental Conservation and Dedication, which recognizes extraordinary achievement in voluntary conservation among farmers. In the same year, LangeTwins became the first landowner to enroll in California’s Regional Safe Harbor Agreement – a voluntary partnership intended to enhance habitat for threatened species in a specific area. LangeTwins’ commitment to sustainability and habitat restoration goes beyond making the responsible choice, to knowing that in order to be generational, they must be sustainable in each facet of their farming and winemaking practice.
