Explore Texas Wines at Wine, Dine and Shine in Texas, May 18-20, 2023 Hosted by Women for Winesense

May 3rd – Women For WineSense (WWS), a national non-profit educational organization dedicated to advancing women in the wine industry, is proud to host Wine, Dine and Shine in Texas, a three-day wine event in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. From May 18 to May 20, attendees from all over the US will experience the best of Texas wine through educational seminars, panels, vineyard tours, luncheons and more.

“Texas has a long winemaking history, dating back to the 1600s, and is the fifth largest wine-producing region in the US. But, even more exciting than that, Texas wines are winning more and more wine competitions nationally. We knew we had to share the region with our members, so hosting our event in the Texas Hill Country was an easy decision,” said Susan Via, President of the Dallas chapter of Women For WineSense and Wine, Dine and Shine in Texas event chair.

The event kicks off Thursday, May 18, with a welcome reception and walk around tasting of wines from Becker Vineyards, Bending Branch Winery, Bingham Family Vineyards, Duchman Family Winery, Grape Creek Vineyards, Hidden Hangar Vineyard and Winery, Hilmy Cellars, Messina Hof, Pedernales Cellars, Spicewood Vineyards and Siboney Cellars.

On Friday, May 19, attendees will tour and taste at William Chris Vineyards, Hilmy Cellars, and Becker Vineyards. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore Fredericksburg’s unique shops, tasting rooms and restaurants.

Saturday, May 20, brings educational sessions led by four exceptional wine experts in the Texas wine industry:

  • The Evolution of Texas Wines – See How Far We’ve Come! with Maureen Qualia, Enology Lecturer at Texas Tech University,
  • Characteristics of Texas AVAs with Ed Hellman, Emeritus Professor of Viticulture and Enology at Texas Tech University
  • The History of the Texas Hill Country AVA and the New Texas Grape and Wine Institute with Susan Auler of Fall Creek Vineyards
  • Lone Star State of Mind: Texas Wines and Stories that Inspire with Shelly Wilfong of This is Texas Wine podcast.

The day also includes a Texas Women Winemakers panel discussion during lunch featuring Bénédicte Rhyne of Kuhlman Cellars, Rachel Fanning of Augusta Vin Winery and Vineyards, and Marissa Bingham of Bingham Family Vineyards.

A farewell dinner at Feast and Merriment, featuring local foods and more sampling of Texas wines, caps off the day Saturday.

Throughout the event, wines from Texas wineries including Adelphos Cellars, Becker Vineyards, Bending Branch Winery, Bingham Family Vineyards, Driftwood Estate Winery, Duchman Family Winery, Eden Hill Vineyards, Farmhouse Vineyards, French Connection Wines, Grape Creek Vineyards, Haak Vineyards & Winery, Hidden Hangar Winery, Hilmy Cellars, Llano Estacado, Messina Hof, Pedernales Cellars, Rancho Loma Vineyard, Spicewood Vineyards, Texas Heritage Vineyard and Torr Na Lochs will be poured.

“Wine, Dine and Shine in Texas is a great opprtunity for anyone who wants to dive into Texas wines, whether an aficionado or just curious. The wineries we are visiting are outstanding (and really understand Texas hospitality!), the wines we are tasting truly give an overview of the excellence Texas has to offer, and the workshops offer the opportunity to dig deep and understand what is happening in the Texas wine scene, as well as what is on the horizon,” said Amy Gross, National President of Women For WineSense.
