Alto Adige Wines Announces Three New US Sommelier Ambassadors

April 14th – Alto Adige Wines is pleased to announce the appointment of three sommelier ambassadors in the United States—Omar Lima in Los Angeles, Chris Struck in New York City, and Tiffany Tobey in Dallas.

Nestled between Austria and Switzerland, Alto Adige is Italy’s northernmost winegrowing region. Also known as Südtirol, Alto Adige represents less than 1% of Italy’s total wine production, yet its spectrum of varieties and vineyards is vast. With both Alpine and Mediterranean influences and over 98% of its winegrowing area protected under DOC regulations, Alto Adige’s wines and culture are truly singular.

The Alto Adige ambassadors’ mission is to educate and engage industry peers, and spread the word, knowledge, and love for the region’s wines in the US. They were selected from an extremely qualified and passionate pool of applicants from across the country. The ambassadors’ home cities are among the top markets for Alto Adige wine distribution and hubs for restaurants and retailers. The trio began their tenure with an immersion experience in the region, meeting with producers, visiting vineyards, and diving into the culture. Programming in the US includes “peer-to-peer” in-person wine tastings and virtual conversations and tastings with producers for the trade and media.

Omar Lima is a Sommelier at SPAGO Wolfgang Puck Beverly Hills. Tiffany Tobey is the Wine Director at Tower Club Dallas and the Texas representative for the upcoming Somm TV series, “The History of Wine”. Chris Struck is the Beverage Director for ilili restaurants and an adjunct lecturer in Hospitality Management at CUNY CityTech. Learn more about them here
