Papapietro Perry Wins Best Pinot Noir at Pigs & Pinot Event

Healdsburg, Calif. (March 20, 2023) – Papapietro Perry Winery took home the “best of the best” honors at the annual Pigs & Pinot wine competition on Friday at Hotel Healdsburg. The Pinot Cup, Pigs & Pinot’s wine competition, is a blind tasting of 60 specially selected Pinot Noirs judged by a panel of industry experts. The winner was announced Friday night, and the Papapietro Perry 2020 Peters Vineyard, Pinot Noir came out on top. Papapietro Perry made history by becoming the first winery to place three times in this competition.

Judges for the Pinot Cup included Sarah Doyle, wine and spirits journalist for the Press Democrat and Sonoma Magazine; Debbie Zachareas, partner at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant; and David Yoshida, Master Sommelier and last year’s Ultimate Pinot Smackdown Champion. The Ultimate Pinot Smackdown is the Pigs & Pinot’s sommelier competition.

Ben and Yolanda Papapietro were on hand at Pigs & Pinot to accept the award. The 2016 Peters Vineyard, Pinot Noir was the Pinot Cup Runner-Up in 2019 and 2005 Peters Vineyard, Pinot Noir took home the Pinot Cup in 2009.

Papapietro Perry Winery, which is marking its 25th anniversary in 2023, is located in Healdsburg and specializes in small-lot Pinot Noirs that express the pure character of the grape and vineyard.

The winery is owned by Renae Perry and Ben and Yolanda Papapietro (Renae’s husband, co-founder Bruce Perry, sadly passed away in 2022). Additional information on Papapietro Perry Winery is available at papapietro-perry.com.
