Barton & Guestier Teams Up with French Artist, Woo for Limited Edition Bordeaux Red

The collaboration pays tribute to Germain Rambaud and his fine winemaking methods

New York, NY (November 8, 2022) – Barton & Guestier (B&G), the award-winning French winehouse with three centuries of winemaking history, announces today their collaboration with acclaimed multidisciplinary French artist, Woo. Available in select Florida, Texas and New York retail and online stores this December, the B&G Limited Edition Bordeaux Red by Woo features the artist’s signature style reflected on the label as an ode to Germain Rambaud, the first cellar master at Barton & Guestier dating back to the 18th century.

For B&G, the collaboration with Woo aligns with the brand’s commitment to local partnerships and devotion to French history and heritage, while blending its innovative and youthful spirit. The painting showcased on the limited edition Bordeaux Red combines distinct symbolism in the bold style of graffiti and gentle calligraphy lines – a signature Woo style. The painting reflects intricate details paying homage to B&G and to Rambaud. A close look at the bold gold details reveals the letters ‘B & G,’ a nod to the renowned French winehouse.

Settled in Bordeaux, Woo is a multidisciplinary artist, at mid-way between street art and calligraphy. Inspired by artists like Keith Haring and Nikki de Saint Phalle, Woo’s deep attachment to the elegance of oriental alphabets is expressed in his productions in singular calligraphic elements. The repetition of the gesture, the movement of the wrist, and the fluidity often represent the symbolism itself.

“Inspiring the French ‘Art of Living’ and bringing emotions to winelovers worldwide is what B&G has accomplished for nearly three centuries,” says Carlos Varela, CEO of BGPL USA, the distributor and marketer of Barton & Guestier. “Winemaking is an artform and this special collaboration with Woo represents the emotion of sipping your favorite wine while gazing at an inspiring piece of art.”

Aged in oak for 6 months, the Limited Edition Bordeaux Red is a rich 2020 vintage – a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, showing a brilliant ruby red color. The wine is produced principally in the Entre Deux Mers and the right bank of the Gironde estuary, farmed in diverse terroirs (clay, limestone and gravels) and Oceanic and mild climate. The vinification process includes controlled extraction including three weeks maceration with daily pumping over.

On the nose, red and black berries (red currant, cherry, and blackcurrant) are combined with spicy and toasty notes. On the palate, the wine is fruit-driven with a good balance of round and velvety tannins and a long fruity and spicy finish. The wine is best served with roasted chicken, a cheeseburger or pizza.

This Barton & Guestier and Woo collaboration is the result of two shared passions — wine and art — and the desire to bring them to consumers ready to embrace the French ‘Art of Living’.
