Bâtonnage Forum Opens Applications for 2023 Mentorship Program Level Three Placement with Domaine Carneros

Napa-based traditional sparkling wine house will once again offer a comprehensive view of the wine business through a year-long training position

Napa, Calif., October 18, 2022—Bâtonnage Forum, a nonprofit organization aimed at opening up a conversation about women in wine and fostering opportunities that create equity, is now accepting applications for a new opportunity offered through Level Three of its Mentorship Program, which creates hands-on work opportunities to further career progress in the wine industry for mentees. Domaine Carneros launched the inaugural Level Three placement at the start of this year and has partnered again with the Bâtonnage team to offer a position at the winery in Napa beginning January 2023.

The comprehensive, tailored training position starts on January 16 and concludes November 10, 2023, and will cover all aspects of the wine business—from marketing and sales to sustainable viticulture and winemaking—with special, built-in opportunities to meet and learn from various department heads within the organization throughout the year.

“Domaine Carneros and Bâtonnage align in our missions to support, encourage, and provide pathways to success for diverse individuals in the wine industry, says Domaine Carneros CEO Remi Cohen. “As we move into our second year of partnership on this incredible mentorship program, we are excited to apply what we have learned last year to create an even more valuable program for the mentee. With exposure to all aspects of our business and an opportunity to work with various members of our team, the mentee will have comprehensive insight into all aspects of our winery to help them advance and develop their career path.”

In 2023, beginning with the Domaine Carneros placement, the Level Three program will offer an additional benefit to the mentee: one-on-one support from the Bâtonnage Mentorship Core Committee, which includes a roster of experienced individuals across six Industry Areas of Focus: Viticulture, Cellar/Production, Sales & Distribution, Retail, Hospitality, and Marketing & Communications. This will complement Bâtonnage’s existing commitment to working closely with the mentor organization to ensure mentees are supported professionally, socially, and financially for the duration of the placement.

Priyanka French, Bâtonnage Mentorship Program director and winemaker at Signorello Estate, says, “There’s an astonishing amount of hard work that goes into Level Three programming so we are incredibly grateful to have a dedicated partner like Domaine Carneros. The high level of access to local industry professionals within the Domaine Carneros and Bâtonnage teams that the mentee will enjoy is truly a once-in-a-career opportunity, intended to fuel their passion for and professional advancement in wine.”

The 2022 Level 3 mentorship placement recipient, Briana Lee, found her experience at Domaine Carneros through the Bâtonnage Mentorship Program to be incredibly rewarding: “I was constantly inspired and impressed by the talent and leadership within the company as well as the structure of each department,” states Lee. “The skills I’ve gained and the intricacies I have discovered within the various departments of Domaine Carneros will always resonate with me as I continue this journey through the multi-faceted wine industry.”

Candidates should hold an Associate’s Degree or higher with related studies and should ideally have one or more years of winery experience. This is a paid, full-time position with an hourly rate of compensation for the duration of the program dates. Please review the position description and qualifications before submitting an application.

Interested candidates should apply online no later than November 4, 2022. Bâtonnage Forum will work collaboratively during the selection process and will grant one candidate the opportunity to participate, to be announced November 29, 2022. During the selection process, finalists will be expected to participate in an in-person or virtual interview to be scheduled between November 5-November 20, 2022.
