Healdsburg, California (Sept. 14, 2022) – Gary Farrell Winery is celebrating its 40th anniversary this fall, a milestone as one of the Russian River Valley’s pioneering wineries. To mark the occasion of its 40th anniversary, the winery is putting on a special Harvest Dinner on October 1 featuring limited release wines paired with a menu from chef Duskie Estes.
Gary Farrell founded his eponymous winery in 1982 when he made a Pinot Noir sourced from two of the Russian River Valley’s premier vineyards, Rochioli and Allen. Farrell had been making wine for other wineries in the Russian River Valley since the late ‘70s and developed relationships with growers such as the Rochioli family, which enabled him to launch his own winery. Although Farrell sold his winery in 2004, Gary Farrell Winery continues its collaborative partnerships with top growers and its commitment to wines that capture the unique character of the vineyard.
Since 2011 the winery has been owned by Bill Price and a group of investors, including wine industry veterans Pete Scott and Walt Klenz. Under the hand of director of winemaking Theresa Heredia, the winery is nurturing Gary Farrell’s legacy of producing small lots of varietally expressive and regionally distinctive Russian River Valley Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. The 2022 harvest is also a milestone for Theresa Heredia, as she marks a decade of winemaking at Gary Farrell Winery.
“The 40th anniversary is a significant achievement in the California wine industry,” noted Nancy Bailey, general manager for Gary Farrell for the past 11 years. “Gary Farrell Winery is an icon in the Russian River Valley, and we have built on Gary’s pioneering role through our focus on crafting expressive, small-lot Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs and on our deep-rooted relationships with some of the region’s most sought-after vineyards.”
The 40th Anniversary Harvest Dinner is Saturday, October 1, from 5:30pm to 9pm at the winery at 10701 Westside Road, Healdsburg, CA 95448. Held on the winery’s picturesque terrace overlooking the Russian River Valley, the Harvest Dinner will feature the limited production Inspiration Series Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and a family-style meal from local celebrity chef Duskie Estes of Black Pig Meat Co. Tickets are $185 per person and can be purchased at https://www.exploretock.com/garyfarrellwinery/event/348926/harvest-dinner
