Harken Chardonnay Named a 2021 Impact Hot Prospect Brand for Second Year in a Row

LARKSPUR, Calif. –  September 8, 2022 – O’Neill Vintners & Distillers, a certified B Corporation, is pleased to announce that Harken Chardonnay has been named a 2021 IMPACT Hot Prospect Brand, a rare achievement for a single sku wine brand. Harken (SRP $15), a California Chardonnay crafted by winemaker Adam Popp, brings an oaky and buttery style to life with 100% barrel fermentation, barrel aging and hand stirring.

“Harken has far exceeded IMPACT’s criteria in 2021, selling over 90,000 cases, and is on track to sell over 100,000 cases in 2022,” notes Christine Moll, Chief Marketing Officer. “Harken was created by O’Neill Vintners & Distillers founder, Jeff O’Neill, who had the vision to craft a barrel fermented style of Chardonnay that can be enjoyed by all. This wine is a great example of O’Neill making delicious and accessible wines that consumers love to drink.”

IMPACT, owned by M. Shanken Communications, Inc., has specific criteria for this prestigious award: (1) U.S. depletions must be at least 50,000 nine-liter cases in calendar year 2021, (2) a minimum of 15% U.S. depletion volume growth in calendar 2021, and (3) continuous positive growth in each calendar year since 2019.

Harken Chardonnay has seen impressive, yet steady growth since 2018. This past year, the brand saw depletions of 96,643 nine-liter cases, which was up 18% from 2020 and almost 50% compared to 2019.

“Overall, we are excited by the growth in popularity for Harken,” adds Moll. “Everything from the sourcing of premium California sustainably farmed fruit to the individual attention paid to each barrel throughout the winemaking process, we are creating a highly sought-after California Chardonnay loved by our consumers.”
