Need an Extra Push to Pursue a Passion? This Is Your Sign

Unshackled Wines To Pay $75,000 to One Person Ready to Unshackle From the Status Quo

St. Helena, CA (August 10, 2022) – If the idea of sitting through another video call in your cramped home office is making you cringe, or the thought of returning to the office watercooler makes you call in sick, consider this your sign. It’s been called the Great Resignation, the Great Reshuffling and the Great Consideration as employees challenge convention by quitting their jobs and make changes to help them live life to the fullest. In response to this trend, today, Unshackled, a wine brand founded with the purpose of challenging the conventions of luxury wine, is offering $75,000 to one person ready to break free from the day-to-day grind to pursue their dreams.

The Great Unshackling” invites individuals to embrace their passions without limitations—whether it be through a project, a new career, ambitious side hustle or creative pursuit—and is doling out $75,000 to make it happen. Want to design your own capsule collection? Have at it. Want to create a speakeasy Instagram only bakery out of your kitchen? Be our guest.

“At Unshackled, we believe that labels are limiting, conventions are for challenging, and rules are for rewriting—and when it comes to wine, we are doing just that,” says Bukola Ekundayo, General Manager, The Prisoner Wine Company. “Now we want to encourage others to do the same in their lives. We want this $75k to give someone the same freedom we had when we launched Unshackled—to follow their passions and chart their own course.”

Between now and September 7, passion pursuers are invited to enter by posting a video on Instagram using the hashtags #TheGreatUnshacklingContest, #21 and tagging and following @unshackledwines. A panel of judges will evaluate entries based on originality, feasibility, and sincerity to select five finalists. Consumers will then be able to vote on their favorite entry. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Open to U.S. residents 21 or older. Starts 12:00am ET on 8/10/22 and ends 11:59pm ET on 9/7/22. About Unshackled

Unshackled is a California fine wine brand for those who would rather express themselves than conform. Born from The Prisoner Wine Company, Unshackled was created by Chrissy Wittmann and her team of winemakers to challenge conventions and rewrite the rules of luxury winemaking for today’s modern consumer, much the way The Prisoner did 20 years ago. By not limiting ourselves to one appellation, the Unshackled winemakers are free to source the best grapes from premiere regions across the state to ensure they’re delivering unique expressions, unconstrained by the old ways of the wine world. Unshackled offers a Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Blend, Sauvignon Blanc, Sparkling Wine and Sparkling Rose, with two new additions – a Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – launching in late summer 2022. True to The Prisoner Wine Company tradition of creating provocative label designs, Unshackled was designed to cut through the clutter and stand out from the crowd with an eye-catching combination lock design rendered in a premium metallic paper to deliver a luxe look and a gritty tactile feel. You can follow Unshackled on Instagram @unshackledwines.

When The Prisoner was released two decades ago as a complex blend of some of California’s best and most unusual grape varieties, it swiftly and permanently changed the American perception of what a red blend wine could be. The Prisoner Wine Company grew to include a range of rule-bending blends with provocative label designs, and the portfolio has been recognized by consumers and critics alike as one of the most innovative wine brands in the market, leading the resurgence of California luxury red blends and earning “cult” wine status. Today, Director of Winemaking Chrissy Wittmann and her team work with over 100 growers in northern California, bringing together exceptional fruit to produce a family of bold and intriguing wines. The Prisoner Wine Company is located on Highway 29 in St. Helena and welcomes visitors year-round for unexpected, immersive experiences.
