La Prenda Wines Announces Cartooning Classes with New Yorker Cartoonist and Sonoma Local Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell

Thursday, July 21st and Thursday, August 25th at the La Prenda Tasting Room. Comics and Zinemaking Class August 1-5 at the Sonoma Community Center

SONOMA, CA (July 13, 2022) —La Prenda Wines is pleased to announce two upcoming Cartooning Class with New Yorker cartoonist Hilary Campbell! Join Hilary at the La Prenda Tasting Room on either Thursday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. or Thursday, August 25 at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $50 which includes supplies and a glass of La Prenda wine. Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell is a New Yorker cartoonist, author, comedian and filmmaker. Her debut memoir Murder Book is nominated as the best non-fiction mystery novel in this year’s Bouchercon World Mystery Convention. She has illustrated critically acclaimed books such as Feminist Fight Club and Are You My Uber? and her second memoir, The Joy of Snacking will hit the bookshelves in 2023 (Andrews McMeel Publishing). Campbell’s short documentaries This Is Not The End and Small Talk won awards at the top festivals in the country, before going on to become Vimeo Staff Picks. While Hilary resides in New York with her dog and a vast collection of Law & Order dvds, she is a Sonoma born artist, who is very excited to return home to share the world of cartooning.

Hilary will also be hosting a Comics and Zinemaking Class on Monday, August 1 thru Friday, August 5 at the Sonoma Community Center. Learn how to create comics and find your voice from New Yorker cartoonist Hilary Campbell! This one-week camp will explore the importance of self-expression through comics and cartoons. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of cartooning (from single panel to long form), how to find your humor through writing, and ultimately create their first zine. The La Prenda Tasting Room is located at 535 1st Street West (next to The Red Grape) where visitors can enjoy a 5-wine tasting flight while learning about the wines and grape growing in Sonoma Valley. Flights range from $20-$35/person with the opportunity for customization. La Prenda offers a wide variety of wines such as Sparkling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Bordeaux Blends, and even ciders. During the Spring and Summer months, two variations of wine slushies will be available in the tasting room.  The tasting room is open daily 11am-6pm.
