Sonoma, CA, July 13, 2022 — Wildfires are annual events for grape growers and 2022 is proving to be another challenging year. That’s why Agrology, the leading Predictive Agriculture company, today announced that the company has an inventory of smoke taint sensors available to install immediately. Supply chain issues unfortunately impacted many agricultural technology suppliers. However, Agrology has a built-up inventory of sensors on hand to help growers through this immediate fire season.

Agrology sensors measure Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs, the chemicals that cause smoke taint), fine particles and extreme weather events. Agrology sensors sit on the trellis, inside the canopy by the fruit. Agrology also pulls satellite imagery to visually verify smoke presence over regions, to further identify impacted vineyard blocks. Agrology’s mobile app alerts customers immediately when smoke is detected.

Each Agrology customer receives a custom smoke taint report at the end of the growing season, summarizing data on annual smoke exposure and risks, down to the vineyard block. The reporting allows Agrology customers to compare and contrast results from multiple years, giving them a clear picture of air quality and smoke issues in their vineyards and fields.
