Kind of Wild Wines Joins 1% for the Planet Affirming Pledge to Support Environmental Action

HEALDSBURG, Calif. (July 5tht, 2022) — Kind of Wild Wines has joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate 1% of annual sales to support nonprofit organizations focused on environmental initiatives. All Kind of Wild Wines are made with organically grown grapes certified by CCOF and vegan certified by BeVeg (produced without animal products for fining).  The mission of the brand is to support and expand organic agriculture to improve soil health as a climate solution.

At the core of its mission, environmental action has been a focus for the wine producer since its founding in early 2021. Kind of Wild has contributed to non-profits like Kiss the GroundOrganic Farming Research Foundation and Ecologi — all working to solve urgent environmental issues.  Jordan Sager, Co-Founder of Kind of Wild Wines, explains, “We are thrilled to become a member of 1% for the Planet and join this preeminent organization that connects brands with environmental nonprofits, building a global community to align a like-minded mission of preserving our planet.”

“Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes. We’re excited to welcome Kind of Wild Wines to our global movement,” says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.

By contributing 1% of their annual sales, thousands of 1% for the Planet members have raised over $300 million to support approved environmental nonprofits around the globe. Nonprofits are approved based on referrals, track record and environmental focus. Thousands of nonprofits worldwide are currently approved.

In addition to financial support for climate action, Kind of Wild Wines recognizes its environmental footprint as a top concern. Sager explains, “We are very conscious of our impact. For example, we us lighter-weight glass bottles that greatly reduce the overall carbon footprint. We also use natural cork closures without wasteful capsules covering the top of our bottles, and the labels on the bottles are produced from sugar cane, linen, and hemp (annuals). Our shipping packaging is ultra-sleek and minimalist, recyclable and SFI certified (Sustainable Forestry Initiative).”
