Icela Martin Named Winner of Common Threads Award
18 January — Napa, CA—The Napa County Farm Bureau is proud to announce that Icela Martin has been named winner of the Common Threads Honoring Women in Agriculture award.
CEO Ryan Klobas nominated Icela Martin for the award with the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation as a woman in agriculture to be honored for her ongoing leadership in the agricultural community.
The Common Threads Award recognizes women with past or present roots in agriculture who have made a remarkable and visible contribution to the enhancement of their communities.
Common Threads North is a collaborative effort between the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation, California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, California State University, Chico, California Women for Agriculture, Farm Bureaus, Center for Land-Based Learning, Resource Conservation Districts, and University of California, Davis. The program was designed to recognize Northern California’s extraordinary women who have deep roots in agriculture and who have chosen to make a difference in their communities through their contribution of time, talent and treasure.
“Icela is more than deserving of recognition at this level”, said Ryan Klobas, Chief Executive Officer of the Napa County Farm Bureau. “Icela continues to show remarkable leadership on so many different fronts in Napa County. In addition to her safety training work with the agricultural community in Napa County, Icela constantly makes a point to give back to her community. From serving on the school board, to the Napa Hispanic network to being one of the first people on the front lines during the fires distributing PPE to the community, Icela has shown remarkable leadership in our community.”
Martin will receive the Common Threads Honoring Women in Agriculture award in April.
