Latest COVID modeling shows Unified mitigation strategies ensure safe, controlled environment for guests
January 7th – PITTSBURGH, PA – Epistemix, a computational modeling software company that develops simulations to model the spread of diseases and inform policy, today released updated data that projects the risk of COVID transmission during the January 25-27 Unified Wine & Grape Symposium at a rate of 1 case per 10,000 of its 12,000-person conference.
“Creating a controlled environment is crucial for conferences like the Unified Symposium,” says Dr. Lindsey Reiser, Managing Director of Professional Services, Epistemix. “The robust program of safety measures that the Unified Symposium will have in place means a reduction in transmissibility by 80% compared to other typical activities in Sacramento public spaces.”
Partnering in August of 2021, Epistemix and the Unified Symposium are working together to develop appropriate mitigation strategies to improve and ensure the safety of its conference.
Projections show:
- The Unified Symposium’s mask, testing and vaccination protocols ensure a controlled environment that provides a high level of protection from COVID-19.
- With its masks and a vaccination policy, attendees are eight (8) times less likely to be exposed to SARS-CoV-2 than in Sacramento County generally.
- Epistemix projects just 1 case per 10,000 attendees.
- Epistemix data has proven to be 95% accurate when forecasting for past events.
“Ensuring a safe environment for our guests and exhibitors is a top priority for the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, LLC organizers,” says Dan Howard, LLC managing committee member. “To ensure success and meet the expectations of our attendees, the Unified has been working for months with Epistemix, a firm of epidemiologists and computational modeling experts to help us develop policies and protocols to protect our guests and staff.”
The Unified Symposium will continue to work with Epistemix to provide regular updates and forecasts for attendees and exhibitors. Updates will be available at www.unifiedsymposium.org/pod/covid-safety-protocol.
