The first edition of ProWine Mumbai at The St Regis Mumbai recently closed to positive results. As the first in-person trade fair for the wine and spirits sector in India since the start of the COVID pandemic, ProWine Mumbai featured over 200 brands from 70 companies and 13 countries and attracted 2,017 visitors. Jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf India and All Things Nice, ProWine Mumbai is part of the global ProWein World portfolio of Messe Düsseldorf in Germany.
Visitors at ProWine Mumbai 2022 included large hotel managers, prominent restaurateurs and bar owners as well as importers, distributors, retailers, sommeliers, chefs and food and beverage teams. ProWine Mumbai offered an important platform for the Indian market and showcased a wide selection of wines from India and many other countries across the world. The French Pavilion organized by Business France offered visitors to speak to the wine producers in France digitally throughout the day. In the Spirits Pavilion, attendees could taste gin, vodka, single malts, rum, tequila, craft beverages and beer.

The exhibits were complemented by the ProWine Masterclasses with 15 sessions on two days, free of charge. International speakers took part digitally while the tastings were held on-site.
The exhibitors were pleased with the visitor quality and reported good business results. “ProWine Mumbai was a real success and we are really proud to have been part of it with our 13 French producers in the Pavilion”, stated Mathilde Bertille, Trade Officer Agribusiness Department at Business France India.
The organizers implemented strict hygiene and safety protocols. All visitors and exhibitors of ProWine Mumbai had to be fully vaccinated. More than 14,000 glasses were used at the trade fair – all of them were washed at 90 degrees and with sanitizing products. In addition, individual biodegradable spittoons were provided for a safe tasting experience and only glass water bottles were used in order to reduce the carbon footprint of trade fairs.
