WARRENTON, Va., Oct. 12, 2021—Once again, Rainforest Trust has teamed up with Chufly Imports to host a virtual wine tasting to benefit the Rainforest Trust Climate Action Fund. The live, virtual event takes place on Thursday, November 4 at 7 p.m. EST. The cost is $100 for three bottles and includes three exquisite sustainably certified wines—two reds, one white—and free shipping. The three-bottle ticket includes wines from small wineries curated by a team of in-house sommeliers at Chufly Imports: 1750 Syrah 2018, Bolivia, Samaipata; Aranjuez Tannat 2018, Bolivia, Tarija; and Monte Xanic Chenin Blanc | Colombard 2020, Mexico, Valle de Guadalupe. These wines are from emerging wine regions with high-impact conservation and sustainable development. The ticket also includes shipping to the recipient’s home, a professionally guided wine tasting, a $50 contribution to the Rainforest Trust Climate Action Fund and an update on Rainforest Trust’s important conservation successes in 2021. Tickets must be purchased no later than October 25 to ensure wines arrive in time for the November 4th event. All recipients must be 21 years of age or older and must be home to accept the shipment. The biodiversity is lost and the carbon once stored is now contributing to climate change,” said Stephanie Wester, conservation programs officer with Rainforest Trust. “Creating and maintaining protected areas is the simplest most cost-effective solution to reduce climate change. Rainforest Trust has been doing just that for nearly 34 years.”
Rainforest Trust estimates that, in 2020, the world lost over 30.1 million acres of tropical forest and the rampant destruction of forests dumped 2.64 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. That amount is more than double all annual vehicle emissions in the U.S. The goal of Rainforest Trust is to work to permanently lock up 15 billion tons of carbon by 2025.
