(July 1, 2021; Buellton, Calif.)—Santa Barbara County’s Alma Rosa Winery has officially opened up registration for its second annual Peace of Mind: 10,000 Steps in the Right Direction fundraising walk, which will take place on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 9:00 AM at its El Jabali estate in the Sta. Rita Hills. Interested participants may visit the event website to register for the walk, view leaderboards, or make personal donations to the beneficiary organization(s) of their choice: Mental Wellness Center in Santa Barbara and One Mind.
Peace of Mind: 10,000 Steps in the Right Direction will be an in-person walk of approximately 10,000 steps or 4.5 miles across Alma Rosa’s estate in the Sta. Rita Hills, featuring varied terrain and sweeping views of the vineyards. Guests will be offered complimentary Quantum Squares energy bar snacks, plenty of water, a glass of sparkling wine at the top of the estate and a celebratory glass of wine at the bottom of the hill asparticipants finish the walk. Check in begins at 8:00 AM on
July 24, and the walk will start at 9:00 AM, with a total expected time of 1-1/2 to 2 hours to complete.
Peace of Mind: 10,000 Steps in the Right Direction was conceived by Alma Rosa Winery proprietors Bob and Barb Zorich to support community services for mental health, as well as research. Following the success of the winery’s inaugural event, which took place virtually last September and raised over $144,000, the Zorichs are pleased to announce a fund matching initiative. They will match the first $35,000 in donations to each One Mind and Mental Wellness Center, for a total of $70,000.
“We are humbled by the public support for this event, and for these two organizations that are doing such critical work,” says Bob Zorich. “We are confident that these funds will make a significant difference in the fight against anxiety and depression in our local community and beyond.”
Fundraisers are eligible to win prizes, generously supplied by community sponsors, including field side box seats to matches at the Santa Barbara Polo Club.

Since 1947, Mental Wellness Center has been building hope for individuals and families, providing support in recovery and raising awareness of mental health within the Santa Barbara community. This important organization provides mental health education to local students, a residential services program which safely provides a home to more than 100 community members across seven residential sites, and serves individuals and families impacted by mental illness through support groups, employment services, and social connection programs like the Fellowship Club, an on-site social day club and safe space with resources for those living with mental health struggles.
